London Fashion week -What I have seen so far this weekend

So this week is London Fashion week !!!! My favourite collections so far are Moschino Cheap and Chic because of the vibrant colours buttons and meshing. It gave of a fun retro vibe that I think is really creative .I thought that these pieces were real works of art and I think that these deserve to be in the Tate Modern more than the Mirror on a canvas  that I blogged about earlier this week.I also really liked the pineapple type print that Moschino had on a few items. The whole collection looks very  1960's America.(right)

Another collection I loved was the Marios Schwab collection which oozed elegance and sophistication. This was the first show by Marios I had seen so was shocked by how excelling brilliant it was.

The attention to detail was phenomenal with evening wear "webbed" with Swarovski crystals. Also the red dress to the right was in the same collection but in the day wear half. The collection appeared to be  a mix of era's ,world heritages and tribal shoes.
The workmanship and creative minds that went into this collection was clear from the very start. I am defiantly going to watch another of Marios's shows.

Thronton Bregazzi was a designer that I must say I had never heard of until I had watched the show .The collection was as sharp and I would wear it so it wasn't to extravagant .It was packed with texture my favourites were snakeskin and rose prints, see through shirts, reflective neon fabrics and glittering silver florals. This was a smart but different collection that was very wearable.

The last collection that I saw was Erdem which happens to be a favourite of  Samantha Cameron/Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton ! The collection was floral at the roots but had a darker side with moody purples and acid greens. I also liked the oversized mannish jumpers and the leather.

Goodwood Festival Of Speed

This week has been a rather eventful week with the London fashion week starting and Goodwood Festival of Speed.
This weekend I went to Goodwood to catch up on all of the Celebrity's,cars and fashion.

If you didn't already know Goodwood is the most prestigious car racing festival in Europe and it races cars and motorbikes from the 1940-1960's ! Not only do people watch the vintage cars race they dress up as people would in the 1940-60's ! So this is why I went to catch all the fashion as well as some speed.

There were some sights to see at Goodwood practically everyone was dresses up.
The outfits ranged from Polka dotted dresses to boiler suits and goggles ! And as for the actual drivers of the cars they wore a variety of different leather pieces.

The top highlights of the day for me was standing on "Ambulance corner" watching the cars spin round the hardest corner of the track whilst an airshow was going on above . Then the planes landed in the middle of the track which was pretty cool!
I saw alot of leather jackets and polka dot dresses (not in the same outfit). I wore a printed dress with leather leggings and purple silk trainer/converses.

On the left are some of the best outfits in my opinion although there were many fabulous efforts I think that these three were defiantly up in the top 20 !

On the right
is me in a phone box just because I thought it would look cool !

I think that the only place that you wouldn't be frowned upon for wearing a mink coat would be Goodwood becuase virtually everyone was wearing them which surprised me a little as well as creeped me out because some of them has tails and ears !

Many celebrity's attended the event such as Lewis Hamiltion and his Girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, Chris Evans from BBC radio 2 and Jenson button.

I saw this VW camper van at Goodwood it has a union Jack roof ! I think that this is so patriotic that the Queen should have travelled down the Thames in it on a boat !

I also happened to see the girl below at Goodwood ,she is not dressed up but I thought that she was defiantly blog worthy !

So overall I had a brilliant day watching the cars skidding round the track and motorbikes toppling over ! Best of all fashion watching.

Modern Art , point or no point ?

So yesterday I went to the Tate Modern in London to see a few exhibitions.  What is the point of Modern art ? I saw some stones placed in a circle by some "well known" artist which was supposed  to convey energy I was thinking to myself "what the actual" .

If I put lots of stones in a circle no one would pay me £1 million pounds for it . This is because I have no name for myself as an artist and this chap called Richard Long does. Some of the work by this Artist is uber creative and imaginative for example he walks up and downthe same track 100 times to make an indentation into a piece of art ! Pretty cool, This piece I like but really I don't agree with it being in a gallery.

Many pieces of modern art seem to lack any imagination and are totally bereft of artistic skill it seems to me.
Another example of this is the mirror on a canvas by Micheal Baldwin, this piece is supposedly mocking the Renaissance period because the artists in this period painted everything as it looked and you cant get more realistic than your reflection. This work has often been likened to a window upon the world.

I can understand why all of this is thought but I have a mirror at home like that . Come on that would take 2 minutes to hang on a wall and it costs alot more than any mirror should cost !

There are some incredibly talented artists as well who are contemporary and modern but also have an imagination ! I love art that you can look at and think wow I want that in my room or I want to learn how to do that .

For example many street artists are extremely talented but like to do it their own way , however some just litter our streets with rude words.Look at the street art of the African Tribes Woman and then look at the mirror.
Which one deserves to be in a gallery more?
The one for free or the Zillion pound one ?
The one that took time and thought or the one that two minutes to hang on a wall?
The one that you have in your bathroom already or the one you would love to have anywhere.
The one with the colour and energy or the reflection ?
Ask that to yourselves Modern Art people displaying mirrors as art. It requires a bit of common sense really.

An average teen verses an inspired one

Why do all teenagers dress the same?

Ok so a thought that crossed my mind this morning when I saw both a girl and a boy wearing the same Abercrombie T-Shirt on the same street .Why do all teenagers dress the same? Because of peer pressure to wear the same labels across their chest ? There are the Superdry's , Abercrombie and Jack Wills's but really they don't have their own real fashion identity. Lots of teens dress like their friends to be part of the gang perhaps or maybe they actually choose to look like that !

This is what I love about Topshop and shops that have individual quirkiness about them because they don't just say "Abercrombie" across the front ,instead it has a design that has to be thought about , what it means and who on earth would wear it.These designs have textures, different materials and layers compared to the plain cotton t-shirts from Abercrombie with one word written across it.

For example on random occasions I wear lemons on my head and people on the street give me strange looks but underneath my massive heart sunglasses I'm giving them stranger looks cause they all look the same , which I find a bit odd to be honest. Even in  the winter girls wear shorts. They wear shorts with tights and Uggs but seriously I really don't understand why people would wear SHORTS when its SNOWING outside !

People I admire for their dress sense look completely different to anyone else on the street.I admire people who lift my mood when I see their clothes or make me think 'that should be in an art gallery'. I like to look different and have an identity on the outside as well as the inside.

I think people of our generation should address this otherwise we might all end up wearing the same thing for the rest of our lives which would be wrong as well as weirdly strange.

I want to change the way people think about fashion , instead of a way to just be comfy or 'in' with the labels .I think we should think about fashion as a way to show your identity and your imagination. I am not saying we should all look like clowns but I really think that we should use our imaginations more as really we are going nowhere as apart from school, we text ,play games on the Internet , and socialise so much on the Internet our eyes are very likely to pop out !" And lets face it we have some wildly creative designers out there that influence many things but teenagers really aren't one of them unfortunately.

So slowly i think we should change the way teenagers think about fashion.Intead of  'in with the designers' creative, thought about designs that people look at and go wow where did you get that.

Solar powered clothing + my favourite winter styles

So my favourite stylist of all time has to be Nicola Formittci who is the stylist of Lady Gaga , and is due to start his own New York based brand in 2013 which will feature solar powered clothing to charge your phone! If anybody has one I'm jealous. I recently had to live without my Blackberry for 10 days and that made me realise how much I rely on it ! I really think that these accessories/clothes will be a revolution ! Even though solar powered bags exist they are in early stages and aren't fashion bags just solar powered with virtually no focus on the BAG bit.

For the winter I am loving the 60's look.Check out Alexa Chung's peter pan collar .(on the right)

I also love the baroque look ( I have posted about this about this look in my fall fashion forecast ).Dolce Gabbana have done a lot of this type of design this year.Tops include softer, ornate swirls and I have a very strong liking for the whole look.(below)

(The goth look has caught my eye this season as bomber jackets are everywhere , In the shops , on the street and on the celebrities .I am totally in love with all the studded leather this season particularly jackets and shoes.Jackets from TOPSHOP are particularly cool and shoes from OFFICE.(below)

Military ,particularly khaki green is very "in" and "in" my wardrobe !
Also very in is the peplum dress or skirt which also gives a fabulous shape. So why not combine the two with this dress below from Topshop. It also enhances a curvacious figure so perfect if u have a staight up and down shape.(left)
